A woman is dead and two children were hospitalized after a collision in Midtown Anchorage early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to a report of a collision with injuries near UAA Drive and Northern Lights Boulevard just after 12 a.m. Tuesday, Anchorage police said in a statement. A woman who was in the vehicle was declared dead at the scene, police said, and two child occupants were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say only one vehicle was involved in the collision.
An Anchorage police spokesperson said they were unable to answer questions about the nature of the collision, the type of vehicle involved or the relationship between the woman and the children in the vehicle.

The identity of the woman who died in the collision will be released once her next of kin are notified, police said. Police are requesting anyone who witnessed the incident, or has surveillance footage, to reach out to police dispatch.
